A barrier cream for skin that breaks out — seventeen ingredients, nothing else.
Acne-prone skin has a barrier problem too. It is usually being treated with acids, retinoids or benzoyl peroxide, all of which strip it further, and then moisturized with something either too rich to tolerate or too light to help. Most people end up oily and tight at the same time.
Zeroid, made by the Korean pharmaceutical company Neopharm, solved it by taking their barrier technology and stripping the formula down. This uses the same patented MLE (Multi-Lamellar Emulsion) approach as their Intensive Cream — lipids arranged in the layered structure your own skin barrier uses, rather than dispersed in an ordinary emulsion — but in a lightweight texture with almost none of the heavy butters and waxes.
The active side: a pseudoceramide and phytosterols to rebuild lipids, ADFence-P and Restomide, two Neopharm ingredients aimed at calming redness and excess sebum, plus beta-glucan, allantoin, sodium hyaluronate and glycerin for comfort and hydration.
In the brand's own testing, sebum production was reduced by 62% after a month of use.
No fragrance, no colourants, no alcohol, no parabens, no phenoxyethanol, no mineral oil, no PEGs. Formulated and tested as non-comedogenic.
Morning and night, as the last step of your routine before sunscreen. Apply to slightly damp skin — a barrier cream works best sealing in water that is already there.
Use it over the whole face, including areas that are actively breaking out. There is nothing in it that will make congestion worse.
Oily, combination and acne-prone skin. Redness. Skin that feels greasy and tight at the same time.
Especially worth it if you use actives. If you are on a BHA pad, an exfoliating serum or a retinoid, this is the moisturizer that lets you keep going — it rebuilds the barrier overnight without the richness that usually comes with a repair cream.
If your skin is genuinely dry rather than oily-dehydrated, the Zeroid Intensive Cream is the richer version of the same technology.
Water/Aqua, Glycerin, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, 1,2-Hexanediol, Myristoyl/Palmitoyl Oxostearamide/Arachamide MEA, Phytosterols, Stearic Acid, Oleamide MEA, Methylbenzyl Methylbenzimidazole Piperidinylmethanone, Tocopherol, Polyglyceryl-10 Distearate, Beta-Glucan, Sodium Hyaluronate, Allantoin, Sodium Polyacrylate, Carbomer, Arginine
