Oil dissolves oil. Sunscreen, waterproof makeup and the day's sebum are oil-soluble, which is why a water-based cleanser alone leaves them sitting on your skin. This is the step that removes them.

The base is sunflower seed oil — linoleic-rich, non-comedogenic, and backed by research showing it supports a recovering skin barrier — blended with meadowfoam seed oil, squalane, olive fruit oil and black soybean oil from Jeongseon. It emulsifies cleanly with water and rinses without the greasy film that puts people off oil cleansers.

What sets it apart is what Round Lab added on top. Most cleansing oils skip actives entirely, on the logic that it all washes away. This one carries ceramide NP and phytosphingosine — two lipids your skin barrier is actually built from — plus glycerin, so skin is not left tight. It also includes LHA, an oil-soluble exfoliant that helps loosen blackheads during the massage step.

How to use

Start with dry hands and a dry face. This is the step everyone gets wrong. Water on your hands or face stops the oil from binding to makeup and sunscreen, and the cleanse will not work properly.

1. Dispense 2–3 pumps onto dry hands and massage over dry skin for 30–60 seconds, working over the nose and chin.
2. Add a little lukewarm water to your fingertips and keep massaging — the oil turns milky as it emulsifies. This is what lets it rinse clean, so do not skip it.
3. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.
4. Follow with a water-based cleanser.

If your skin feels greasy afterward, you did not emulsify long enough. Add water gradually and keep massaging until it turns fully milky before rinsing.
