The first three ingredients are not filters or silicones. They are licorice root water at 20.55%, centella asiatica extract at 15% and heartleaf extract at 14.25% — roughly half the formula is soothing botanical base before anything else goes in. That is the entire design idea, and it is why this feels like an essence rather than a sunscreen.

Protection comes from five new-generation UV filters, the photostable ones used across Korea and Europe. They are the reason a chemical sunscreen can reach SPF50+ PA++++ with no white cast, no heavy film and no grey tone on deeper skin.

Underneath sits a nine-form hyaluronic acid complex, niacinamide, madecassoside, adenosine and a long list of calming plant extracts — aloe, goji, sea kelp, elm root.

Fragrance-free and essential-oil-free — genuinely unusual in this category, and what makes it wearable for skin that reacts to most sunscreens.

How to use

The final step of your morning routine, after moisturizer and before makeup.

Use enough. This is where sunscreen usually fails, not in the formula. SPF ratings are measured at roughly a quarter teaspoon for the face — or the two-finger length rule. Half that gives you far less than half the protection. Do not skip the neck, ears and hairline.

Reapply every 2 hours in the sun, and after swimming, sweating or towel drying.

Let it settle a minute before makeup. It layers cleanly, but rubbing while wet will pill it, like any water-based sunscreen.

Best for

All skin types, including sensitive and reactive. Especially good if you dislike the heaviness, sting or white cast of most sunscreens — or if you use a retinoid or exfoliating acid and need daily protection that will not add irritation.

• Not water-resistant — reapply after swimming or heavy sweating.
• Sunscreen is one part of sun protection. Seek shade and cover up during peak midday sun.
• Patch test before first use. Keep out of the eyes; rinse with water if contact occurs.
