Sake lees — the Japanese brewery ingredient, in a five-minute wash-off mask.
Sakekasu is what remains after sake is pressed: the soft white rice solids left behind by fermentation. In Japan it has been eaten, cooked with and put on skin for centuries, and it is one of the oldest ingredients in Japanese beauty culture.
This mask is made by a Japanese manufacturer using junmai sake ferment from Iwate, fresh-pressed (nama-shibori), and it carries both rice ferment filtrate and rice lees extract alongside the ingredients that do the softening: rice bran oil, the traditional Japanese skin oil, and molasses from wasanbon, Japan's fine artisan sugar.
Calming the formula: dipotassium glycyrrhizate, a licorice-derived anti-inflammatory widely used in Japanese skincare, plus allantoin and vitamin E.
It goes on as a soft white cream, sits for five minutes, and rinses away leaving skin noticeably smoother and more comfortable. 180g — a generous tub that lasts.
No mineral oil and no animal-derived raw materials. Made in Japan.
Apply an even layer over the whole face after cleansing, avoiding the eye area. Leave for 5 minutes, then rinse off gently with lukewarm water. Follow with toner and moisturizer.
Use once or twice a week. Do not leave it on longer than directed — this is a rinse-off mask, not an overnight one.
Dull, rough or tired-looking skin. Normal, dry and combination types. A good weekly reset when skin looks flat and needs softening rather than treating.
